TWO community champions who give tirelessly to their community have been recognised with Monaro Service Awards.
The Member for Monaro John Barilaro presented Jindabyne's Gordon Jenkinson and Nick Elliott with awards on Monday.
"Nick makes an outstanding contribution to the Jindabyne community, in particular through his passion for regional tourism," Mr Barilaro said.
"He's a fourth generation resident of the Snowy Mountains who's committed to seeing his community thrive.
"Nick's involved with many aspects of the community and has been a dedicated member of many committees' over the years including the local Chamber of Commerce, Jindabyne Central School Council and junior Rugby Union.
"Nick is one of more than two million volunteers across the state and it's important he is recognised publicly."
Gordon Jenkinson received his Monaro Community Award for an outstanding contribution to the Jindabyne region through his work on the Jindabyne Chamber of Commerce.
"Born and bred in the Snowy Mountains, Gordon is a very active member of the community," Mr Barilaro said.
"He's involved in many local organisations such as Jindabyne Trout Society, Jindabyne Chamber of Commerce, and Lake Jindabyne Shared Trail Committee.
"He has an expansive knowledge of the tourism local market and an incredible ambassador of his community."
Recently 18 other volunteers were honoured with Monaro Service Awards at a ceremony in Queanbeyan.
The recipients were recognised for their outstanding contribution to the community in areas such as the arts, environment, multiculturalism, education, health, sport, heritage and pastoral care.
