How to prepare the kitchen for Christmas in advance
The festive season is coming right up, which for many can mean lots of tidying up and preparing the house for guests and family. But where do you start? What is the most festive way to prepare the house? Here we have some easy tips on getting your kitchen right into the holiday spirit.

Stock up in advance

It may seem like a hassle now, but getting ingredients and food now that will last until the holidays saves you a lot of time when it comes to the crunch. Nobody wants to be running around on Christmas Eve looking for a suitable ham or a particular flavouring they forgot about!

Make a list, check it twice, then start ticking items off it sooner rather than later. You might even be able to get in some present shopping!

Check the cutlery

If it is your tun to host the Christmas festivities, then now is the time to check up on those china plates. Get a rough head count of how many people will be attending, and make sure you have enough matching plates, bowls and cutlery to serve everyone.

Check the cooking dishes, too - if you have your specialist recipes up your sleeve to astonish the family and friends, consider getting some great serving dishes and utensils to add a little more wow factor to your cuisine.

Is this thing on?

This is especially important if you are not someone who cooks at home often - check the oven! Maybe do a dress rehearsal meal in the weeks leading up to Christmas, that way you can see what works and what does not. That does not mean break the bank for double the food though! Just try out a simpler meal to make sure your cooking equipment will back you up on the day
