An iconic design from the small house book of home and garden 1957 and at the time built for Mr & Mrs Ron Hamblyn. When I bought it 10 years ago it needed modernising and I've mostly replaced and renovated just about everything, being conscious along the way to keep it in the mid-century modern style and keep the same footprint.
I’ve always been a fan of Rose Seidler House, the likes of Architects Richard Neutra and Frank Lloyd Wright and the mid-century modernist design in general, this home was probably the closest I could get to it! Perched in an elevated position with fabulous views and just a couple of blocks back from the main street it has an ideal north east aspect and is uniquely situated.
Filled with natural light I loved the grand front stairs, the flat roof, the way it was nestled into the site next to the park and the fact that it sits proudly in one of Yass' best streets.
